39. International Film Festival

From 25th March to 6th February 39. International Film Festival was  held under the slogan What is your movie? 

First FEST under the slogan Brave New World was opened on 9 January 1971st in the The House of Trade Unions with projection of Robert Altman’s film Mesh. Intended as annual cross-section of the best films of the season, Fest has grown into one of the major film festivals and has become a major event in the cultural life of Belgrade.

Fest is open to the world of cinema for all authors that create movies that cant be found in cinemas,  non-commercial films. The importance of Fest is reflected in the fact that the Belgrade audience are now familiar with the films of some of the greatest directors of our time such as Theo Angelopoulos, Bob Rafelson, David Cronenberg, Coen Brothers, Luis Bunuel  and the others….

First Fest  was quite spectacular some of very popular movies of all times were shown: A Space Odyssey from Stanley Kubrik, Easy Rider from Dennis Hopper, Robert  Altmans Mesh …. In recent years the Fest audience had the opportunity to watch films that will be noted in the history of world cinema. In the history of the festival were entered numerous global actors and directors who were guests of the festival: Harvey Keitel, Liv Ullmann, Bernardo Bertolucci, Sophia Loren, Robert De Niro, Milos Forman, Catherine Deneuve, Johnny Depp and others. It can be said that the list is very impressive.

39. Fest took place at three locations: the Sava Center, Belgrade Cultural Centre, the Youth Center (which has been renovated) and as in past years in the Yugoslav Film Archive one can  see older films from recent years that were in the film festival. I will present some of the films from this year’s review: Beautifully, Coriolanus which was filmed in Belgrade, Potiche, Drei,You will meet a tall dark stranger, Black Swan , Hereafter, etc. ………….

Od 25. marta do 6. februara održan je Međunarodni filmski festival pod sloganom U kom si filmu?

Prvi FEST , pod sloganom Hrabri novi svet, otvoren je 9. januara 1971. u Domu Sindikata.  Projekcijom filma Meš Roberta Altmana. Zamišljen kao godišnji presek najboljih filmova sezone, Fest je izrastao u  jednu od najznačajnijih filmskih smotri  i  postao jedan od glavnih događaja u kulturnom životu Beograda. Fest je otvoren za sve kinematografije sveta i za sve autore koje stvaraju filmove koje ne mogu da se nađu na bioskopskom repertoaru, može se reći nekomercijalne filmove. Kolika je važnost Festa  ogleda se u činjenici da je  beogradska publika upoznata sa filmovima nekih od najvećih reditelja današnjice kao što su Teo Angelopulos,  Bob Rafelson, Dejvid Kronenberg, Braća Koen, Luis Bunjuel…

Već prvi Fest  počeo je prilično spektakularno, na njemu su se našli: Odiseja u svemiru  Stenlija Kubrika, Goli u sedlu Denisa Hopera, Meš Roberta Altmana….U proteklim godinama na Festu  publika je imala prilike da gleda filmove  koji će ostati zabeleženi u istoriji svetske kinematografije. U istoriju festivala upisani su mnogobrojni svetski glumci i reditelji  koji su bili gosti festivala:  Harvi Kajtel, Liv Ulman, Bernardo Bertoluči, Sofija Loren, Rober de Niro, Miloš Forman, Ketrin Denev, Dzoni Dep i drugi. Može se reći da je lista veoma impresivna.

39. Fest održavao se na tri lokacije:  Sava centru, Dvorani kulturnog centra, Domu omladine ( koji je renoviran) i kao i proteklih godina u Jugoslovenskoj kinoteci mogu se pogledati stariji filmovi iz proteklih godina koji su bili u programu filmskog festivala. Izdvojiću neke od filmova sa ovogodišnje smotre : Prelepo (Beautifull ), Koriolan  (Coriolanus) koji je snimljen u Beogradu, Žene za ukras  (Potiche), Tri (Drei), Upoznaćeš visokog crnog muškarca (You will meet a tall dark stranger), Crni Labud (BLack Swan), Drugi život (Hereafter) itd………….
