Hello dear bloggers, readers & friends…..
I started a new & better blog/guide called Still in Belgrade. It’s also about events & culture in Belgrade.

The man with the vision and skills, techno master Jeff Miles was born in Detroit in 1963. He started career during the 80′s. Soon, Jeff moved from Detroit to New York and after to Berlin, where he was resident of famous Tresor. Member of Detroit techno collective Underground Resistance and owner of labels Axis and Purpose maker. Also, Techno purist and Lanvin fashion lover.
Last week Jeff Miles did a live performance 90 minutes long named Light from the outside world , alongside Orchestre National d’Ile-de-France in Paris hall Cite de la musique, mixing techno music with classical.
Young and talented. Recognized and respected. The (Das) wunderkind. Yes, that’s him, Nicolas Jaar. Born in 1990 in NYC. He started making music at the age of 14. At the age of 17, Nicolas made his debut Student EP for Wolf & Lamb label. After that, He just continued to make more music and got recognized very quickly in electronic music industry. Seth Troxler said that Nicolas is one of the most talented minds in the dance music world, and many others agreed, shearing Seth’s opinion. Nicolas is very unique musician, his music is not just for the body, but also for the soul. Jaar’s music is a fusion, it can’t be put in a straight line. I mean it’s hard to describe it in one or two specific music genders.
He was yesterday performing in Belgrade’s Basta Sava Centar for the very first time. Basta SC (Yard of Sava Centar) is quite big space for around 2000 people, but not really acoustic, so the sound system was not really on the high level. Belgraders were quite exciting about this event, wanting to hear and see Jaar’s first performance in Belgrade. So, it was really lot of people out there, especially girls. Well, I guess it’s cool to attend Nicolas Jaar concert.
The event started around 23 h, somebody did quite nice deep intro, I think it was Acid Pauli (Clown & Sunset), but I am not so sure. Around 1 AM Jaar started a live act, accompanied by a guitarist and saxophonist. Well, I can’t say I am really impressed. I didn’t like it so much. It was too much slow and tedious, I felt sleepy during the entire concert. But, what do I know? They call it art.
The live act wasn’t too long. When He finished, me and my friends went out and str8 to our favorite barge 20/44. There was Tijana T on the decks. Spinning some quite sexy tracks I may say. Really good atmosphere in the first rows. In one moment when I turned my back I saw Nicolas Jaar again. He was taking Tijana’s place on the decks. In that moment it look like she was just pushed away in the middle of the song. Nicolas started to play music, it was like a dj set. Totally unexpected, he was actually there on the boat, on the river, behind the decks. But, the music wasn’t slow and boring any more. He was taking audience on a ride. Very soon, just after a few songs He had them literary in the palm of his hand. Everybody were dancing. Jaar was playing many cool tracks from his own production via Green Velvet’s Pelculator.
Nicolas on the boat 20/44
I notice guys were kissing and touching other guys, which is not so common here, if the space is not officially a gay club. But, big support from me. They made quite free and liberal atmosphere, I felt I was elsewhere. Not in Belgrade, not in Serbia. Elsewhere, where the people are actually free and open-minded. It was morning when I left the party and it was still going. Jaar was defo in the good mood, and that party was really awesome.
For the end just to say that there were different opinions, even few disputes on the Facebook page about Jaar’s live performance. Some people liked it very much, the others like me didn’t. But, one is doubtless. The people who were on the boat 20/44 were very lucky. They picked the right place in the right time. They had the big and trendy Nicolas Jaar for just two euros, which was the price for the ticket they paid. Can you believe it???? Yeap, sometimes this city really rocks!!!! One day I will turn my back and I will see Billy Ray Martin singing in the club.
Hey dear folks. Yesterday was Saturday and Saturgay it’s all right for party. The summer is still very worm in the city. Person can wear what ever, even flip-flops are quite fine for partying on the rafts. I met one new friend couple of weeks ago, so yesterday She was my escort for running around Belgrade. First We drop by one really cool restaurant. I present it proudly on my blog for the first time.

Restaurant Comunale takes place in one very attractive location, on the river in old industrial building from 1937. called Beton hall, next to Belgrade port. Also, takes place next to popular mainstream clubs Frida and Magacin. This extraordinary location Belgraders and foreign people just adore. The place is quite broad, the ceiling is 6 maters high, architect Aleksandar Rodic used very few materials as: concrete, steel and wood. So it’s not very rich with colors, just few colors are represented: black, brawn and gray. Quite minimalistic interior. Looks very sophisticated like a mixture of a restaurant and a bar. Sadly, there is no cocktails on the menu, but You can order mixed drinks and eat Italian food for around 8-9 euro. Which is totally fine price for Belgrade.
I personally love minimalism. Maybe because I was born in 1987. and that generation loves minimalism, some guy told me that once. He said that affinity is associated with the horoscope. But, I really don’t know if it’s true.
After a drink there We continued to Sava mala quart, because my friend Pile sent me a sms, and told us to meet there. He was attending exhibition in space of KC Grad. He came there for art of course, not for free food and drinks like the most of the people who attend exhibitions and openings. When We met, He was carrying a tray with hors d’oeuvre taken from exhibition.:))))
And that was quite tasty, eating on the street with two other random guys. Yeah, suddenly. So, We agree to check out club Apartment located in the building, next to Brankov bridge. But, there was a private sex party going on, so We couldn’t enter. Sadly, for us. I just imagine all that sexy guys dancing in their underwear. We were quite disappointed when guys from security didn’t want to let us in.
But, We continued are visite over Branko’s bridge up to my favorite barge named 20/44. It was a long row of people waiting to get in when We arrived. Inside was really cool atmosphere. A lot of foreigners and cool locals. Everybody were in a good mood. On the decks was Vlada Janjic, who is old school local dj. He played in iconic Industry back in the days. I must admit I never liked his style, I find it boring. But, yesterday He did an awesome set. Maybe He was inspired by the crowed or summer in the city, or something else…Everybody had good time listening to deep, tech and funky sounds.
We met some guy from Mexico city and some guys from Bosnia and Germany. It’s lovely there is more and more tourists nowdays in Belgrade. I hear just good stuff about our city. The crowed was crazy, boys were all over us. To bad girls were too serious. Awesome crowd and party.
Hello folks from all around the Glob. I present the new mix by mister Fakir.
Get lost in music! Get lost in Deep House! Enjoy!!
Hello dear music lovers. I haven’t been a while on my blog, because I made a short trip to Novi Sad, Serbia. I just attended Exit Festival 2012. This was my ( believe it or not ) 10th anniversary of this festival. I was there first when I was 15 years old, and yes it was kind of shock to me, because I was just a little girl. It impressed me so much that I had to continue to visit Exit every year. It’s taking place in Novi Sad, which is the third biggest city in Serbia. Located in the north, in Vojvodina valley. This is quite different city from Belgrade. The people are different from Belgraders. They have different mentality, more slow and relaxing. One can notice that in the way they speak and behave. Unfortunately, not lot of the people from Novi Sad enjoy Exit Festival. They are more in some traditional music genders. But, in contrary people from all over Serbia and Ex Yugoslavia like to attend it annually. Also, lot of foreign folks, mostly from: UK, Greece, France, Australia, Hungary, Poland, Russia and other states. Exit is a true mixture of music genders, multicultural and multiethnic. The bad thing is everybody sticks to their own groups, no matter where They come from. So, I don’t actually meet a lot of people beside my friends which I already know from somewhere. Which is a pity…
I notice that this year there wasn’t that much foreign people like we used to see years before. Also, fortress wasn’t that much crowded like in last couple of years. I don’t really know if the music lovers got bored with this festival, or maybe it is a consequence of global crisis and a luck of financial resources among younger generations who mostly attend Exit Festival.
Festival takes place on Petrovaradin fortress on the river. When One goes from the downtown of Novi Sad which is btw really beautiful, He needs to pass over Petrovaradin bridge and continue until the entrance. That path feels and looks like a big fair, people are everywhere, everybody sells everything from roasted corn, burgers, rakia in tubes to glowing bracelets, masks, sunglasses, body paint, shirts, tickets and cigars. Prices on the festival are quite expensive. Energy drink and beer is around 2 euros, also food is not that cheap. But, never mind we are used to it. Festival prices are all over the city, from cabs via eateries and bars. This is the rare opportunity where city of Novi Sad can get some cash from tourism.

So, now I will give you my short overview of the music, djs and bands I have heard this year. First day I will just note British glam pop band Duran Duran was really great. They are my all time favorites. Guys sounded very much alive even after all those years. Simon le Bon looks quite fine in his sparkling outfit, also guitarist and other guys. They performed 2 hours, some new hits like Girl Panic, but sadly without top models from the 90′s. (( Beth Ditto from the band Gossip joined Simon on the stage while singing iconic Notorious. For the encore Duran Duran sang iconic hits Girls on Film and Rio.
Duran Duran on the stage
First night after Duran Duran I went to Dance Arena, but sadly there was some guy in form of David Guetta, calling himself Avicii. Very much awful music. Avicci kill yourself, you will do the world a favor. I was feeling so bad after his set , that I didn’t have the strength to catch mister Brodinski early in the morning. The second day I caught New Order on the main stage and Hercules and Love Affair. But, Hercules has a new lining and there is no Anthony and Nomi Ruiz so it wasn’t that much good performance like I expected. In contrary, old band New Order was quite good, singing True Faith, Cristal and Blue Monday.
New Order on the stage
Madonna’s favorites Azari & III did quite well job, entertaining the audience on Dance Arena 3rd night. They sounded really cool. Had really nice stage performance. Black guys are quite fun and awesome dancers. I just wish I could dance like that. Looked quite sexy in crazy outfits. Also, famous Cadenza music label owner Luciano did very good dj set. The second hour He played was quite something, played remix of the popular Somebody I used to know and for the end my all time favorite Good Life the place where we all wanna go. But, in my opinion the owner of the best set on the dance arena this year was mister minimal himself Richie Hawtin. Even if I am not that much fun of this music gender, his set is something special: the pure energy from very beginnings until the end. Sexy Richie is the man I just adore.
The dancers on Dance Arena
We waited for Miss Kitten all those years, and finally She was there doing a live act. Playing music and singing. Nice performance. I liked it, but I just know She can do much better, especially for the closure of the set. Sadly, Art Department canceled and I didn’t catch Claude van Stroke. But, Maceo Plex deep house master did excellent set last night.
I notice that there was lot of different styles among ravers in the dance arena. Some guy was walking naked, others had funny outfits. Which is quite cool. Also, there was a really too much rednecks all around Dance Arena this year. That I didn’t like at all.
Fuck off rednecks!!!

I love to visit Novi Sad. I feel like I am somewhere abroad. Atmospheric in the city is very vibrant. I love eating outside and drinking cocktail during the day with my friends from Belgrade.
